Our commitment

COSMOS aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Space exploration should be for everyone. We're actively building toward that.

What we've built

  • Keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable and activatable with a keyboard alone
  • Screen reader support — all icon buttons have aria-labels; all images have alt text
  • Color contrast — 4.5:1 minimum for body text, 3:1 for large text (WCAG AA)
  • Reduced motion — respects your OS preference automatically. Decorative animations stop; functional ones (live countdowns) continue
  • Motion toggle — manual override in the UI if you want to control motion independently of your OS setting
  • Focus indicators — visible on all dark backgrounds using plasma-color glow outlines

3D content

Our 3D tools (Solar System Explorer, Tonight's Sky) include alternative 2D views with equivalent information for users who cannot or prefer not to use the 3D interface.

Known issues

We're in active development. Some Phase 2+ tools may not yet meet full WCAG AA. We aim to fix accessibility issues within one sprint of discovery.
